Ljusinstallationen ” Ledsagare” hämtar inspiration från den procession som inleder Nobelfesten där ceremonimästaren och studenter ledsagar hedersgästerna till bords. En till synes enkel gest som likväl blir bärande i en ceremoni som bjuder in till samtal och möten. Ordet ledsagare är synonymt med vägvisare – en roll som också hör museet till. Här får museet självt stå som ledsagare, iklädd det gulblå marskalksbandet som annars hör Nobelfestligheterna till. Här bjuder vi in och guidar hela samhället, alla är hedersgäster.

The light installation Ledsagare (Guide) is inspired by the procession that opens the Nobel Banquet, when the master of ceremonies and university students escort the honoured guests to their seats at the table. It is an apparently simple gesture, but it sets the tone for a ceremony that brings people together to meet and join in conversation. The word ledsagare also means a signpost that shows the way – a role that a museum can play as well. Here the museum itself stands as a guide, outfitted in the blue-and-yellow sash that is associated with the Nobel festivities. We are here to welcome and to guide all of society – all our visitors are guests of honour.

"Sense Light Swing" skapar en spektakulär ljusshow när den svänger fram och tillbaka på sina långa rep. Modehuset Dior har även använt gungorna i sina Internationella visningar.
Till Nobel Week Lights så blir det världspremiär för "Sense Light Swing" utomhusversion.

Alexander got the idea for the product when he saw a long exposure photograph of a highway; it became like red lines in the whole picture. “It should be the same effect if I make a children’s swing with light in it,” thought Alexander – and it was! The concept for "Sense Light Swing" was created for Alexander’s exhibition ”Five Playful Chairs” in 2005.
The swing seat is made of transparent acrylic and is illuminated from the inside by a strip of strong LEDs. Sense Light Swing creates a spectacular light show as it swings back and forth on its long ropes. Sense Light Swing has received a lot of attention in the international media with full pages in the New York Times and Herald Tribune, among others. The fashion house Dior has also used the swings in its International shows.
Nobel Week Lights will be the world premiere of the outdoor version of "Sense Light Swing". “Now it can finally hang out in the open air on a summer night – or a December night,” says Alexander.

Nobel Week Lights. Med dans och musik har vi erbjudit gemenskap i 250 år. Det vill vi fortsätta att göra – även under denna mörka period. Så istället för att släcka ner när alla aktiviteter nu stannat av – tänder vi upp vårt hus som en symbol för ljusare tider.
En tid då vi återigen kan mötas i en mörk salong som fylls av opera och balett.
Ljusinstallationen är skapad av Patrik Becker, Ljus-, ljud- och videochef och Hans Håkansson Ljusmästare på Kungliga Operan.

Nobel Week Lights. With dance and music, the Royal Swedish Opera has offered fellowship and community for over 250 years. And they want to continue to do so – even during this dark period. So instead of turning off the lights when all events have stopped, they are illuminatnig their facade as a symbol of brighter times.
A time when the Opera can once again meet its audience in a dark salon filled with opera and ballet.
The installation is created by Patrik Becker, Head of Lighting, Sound, and Video, and Hans Håkansson, Lighting Master, at the Royal Swedish Opera.

På Strömparterren gör Konstfacks studenter en ljusinstallation inspirerad av Ernest Hemingways Den gamle och havet, med namnet The Marlin & La Mar. Berättelsen har inspirerat till en tolkning av människans förhållande till naturen, som ständigt behöver omprövas. Stockholm konst deltar i Nobel Week Lights genom en temporär konstnärlig gestaltning på Odenplan. Konstnären Katja Pettersson skapar ett ljusverk som med sin visuella kraft lockar till kontemplation och eftertanke i Alfred Nobels anda. Verket projiceras på en stor glasskärm utanför huvudentrén till Gustaf Vasa kyrka och visar kraftfulla explosioner i slowmotion. Tryckvågen förflyttar materia och formar slumpartade molnvirvlar med fascinerande färgkaskader ¬– vackra, gåtfulla, skrämmande och lockande på samma gång.

Stockholm Art participates in Nobel Week Lights through a temporary art installation at Odenplan.
The artist Katja Pettersson creates a light work that, with its visual power, attracts contemplation and reflection in the spirit of Alfred Nobel. The work is projected on a large glass screen outside the main entrance to Gustaf Vasa Church and shows powerful explosions in slow motion.
The pressure wave moves matter and forms random cloud vortices with fascinating color cascades – beautiful, enigmatic, frightening and alluring all at the same time.

I Reflect lyftas alla delaktiga fram. För att komma framåt i ett arbete behövs kommunikation och reflektion. Genom att reflektera tankar och idéer med kollegor förs arbeten framåt och utvecklas till resultatet. Projektet har utvecklats inom ramen för Beckmans Designhögskolas alumniprojekt.

Behind every Nobel Prize, there are both people and research invisible at the ceremony itself, both historic and contemporary people who have been crucial for the projects to be realized. “Reflect” highlights all participants. To move forward in a project requires communication and reflection. By reflecting thoughts and ideas with a colleague, the project is moved forward and the result is perfect. This project was developed as a Beckmans College of Design Alumni project.

“Je n’ai jamais pu renoncer à la lumière – Jag kunde aldrig ge upp ljuset” är konstnären Amina Zoubirs omskrivning av den algeriskfödda franska författaren Albert Camus tal den 10 december 1957 när han tilldelades Nobelpriset i litteratur. Camus uttalande är en reaktion utifrån hans liv och kamp.
Han säger att konsten enligt honom inte är ett ensamt firande utan snarare ett sätt att beröra människor genom att visa upp en privilegierad bild av både lidande och glädje. Konst tvingar därför konstnären att inte isolera sig utan att utsättas för en ödmjuk och universell sanning.
Amina Zoubir inristar Albert Camus lysande tankar kring åtagandet av denna drivkraft i LED-bokstäver som tillsammans stavar meningen “Je n’ai jamais pu renoncer à la lumière – Jag kunde aldrig ge upp ljuset”. De lyser genom Kulturhusets fönsterfasad.

This paraphrase from the speech delivered by the Algerian born French author Albert Camus on December 10, 1957 as he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature, is a reaction of his engaged life and struggles.
He says that Art is not in his eyes a solitary celebration. It is a way to move the greatest number of people by offering them a privileged image of common sufferings and joys. Therefore, it forces the artist not to isolate, but to be the subject to the most humble and universal truth.
It is in this momentum of commitment, Amina Zoubir inscribes the luminous thoughts of Albert Camus in Led Letters writing “”Je n’ai jamais pu renoncer à la lumière – Jag kunde aldrig ge upp ljuset”” shown through the building windows at Kulturhuset.

Installationen är ett av de största video-mappningsprojekten som staden någonsin har sett i samarbete med bl a Rymdstyrelsen och European Space Agency. Installationen har en tydlig koppling till årets fysikpris som gick till upptäckten av universums sällsammaste fenomen – svarta hål.
Ljusinstallationen Space på Stadshuset produceras av Lumination of Sweden, PXLFLD och Creative Technology i samarbete med Rymdstyrelsen och European Space Agency.
